My take: Is anyone surprised that Nicollete Sheridan posed without clothes on a MNF skit this week? I’m not. A quick look at her film history lets us know this was coming: The Sure Thing (Rob Reiner, 1985).
P.S. She’s the girl on the cover, credited as “The Sure Thing”.
Brian Wilson’s Smile went gold in the UK today. Major media in the U.S. has for the most part paid no attention to it. If you don’t know the Smile story visit Brian’s site and read it.
You can help America know more about Smile and the genius of Brian Wilson by voting for it as the Album of the Year at Entertainment Weekly.
I watched the movie Saved last night. In a nutshell, the director went to christian school, had a bad experience and decided to make a movie about it. That being said, I completely understand where Brian Dannelly, the director, was coming from. Bad stuff happens in the name of God, and christians shouldn’t try to hide it or pretend it doesnt exist. Christians do need to be able to laugh at themselves somtimes. The issue I take with this movie is, it was not watched by christians who need to laugh at themselves. In my opinion, the majority of viewers were others who hold the same opinion of fundamentalist christianity as the movie portrays and it only fueled their fires. The movie tries in the last 10-15 minutes to show the humanity of the characters and bring them together in a “lets find God together” scene. At this point its a little late for this and anyone who needs to hear the message of the film as they have already tuned out.
Lesson to be learned: Judging judgemental people only makes them judge you back
Side note: The song Mandy Moore sings in the beginning is God Only Knows by the Beach Boys from the Pet Sounds Album. If you don’t already own it, buy it.
