I’m Back

Its been quite a while since I posted last mainly because I went home for Christmas break and was busy seeing old friends and being lazy. I have mostly posted funny stories or articles lately but I’m going to step away from that for a moment because I have done a lot of thinking over the last week about life.

I recently saw the movie “The Life Aquatic”, I thoroughly enjoyed it, though it is rated R for a reason. What I enjoyed most was what I percieved as the theme of the movie, emb0died by a quote from Steve Zissou(Murray), that life is an adventure.

In the film, Zissou was so busy faking life that he forgot how great it really was. So many people play pretend (for me its probably video games for others it might be following the life of a celebrity) that they lose sight of their own realities.

You don’t need to escape from life to feel a sense of adventure, you merely need to do some more exploring on your own.

For me this meant, reading more literature, such as C.S. Lewis’ Space Trilogy and anything from H.G. Wells and working on film projects I’ve either begun or have wanted to do.

For others this might mean being in nature, writing a song, interacting with animals, building relationships, carving a sculpture, or knitting a quilt.

Whatever it is for you, do it. Don’t waste any more time on “faking” life.

    Nice Post.

I think sometimes we bargain away a full and rich life for ease, comfort, and sort-term fufillment, which reminds me of Jesus saying to his followers: “whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.” (From Luke, NIV translation)
