Read this article from the Beverage Institute for Health and Wellness on High Fructose Corn Syrup.
Then read this.
They don’t match up, do they?
Suprisingly enough, the first one is from Coke, who’s products contain HFCS. Even funnier are the websites they are getting their information from. They link to the International Food Information Council for a article on HFCS and Obesity.
From the Coca Cola Website*
For years, conventional wisdom said that we need eight cups of water daily for
proper hydration. Not so, say new scientific guidelines from the The Institute of
Medicine of the National Academy of Science (IOM/NAS).
All beverages, including those that contain caffeine,
contribute to proper hydration.
Water mixed with bull!@#% will also give you water and you can absorb the poison in your cells with it.
These guys are smart. They realized that pretending to be into health is the new trend for young people and they’ve picked up on it. And just like every college age kid who accepts everything they are told from Michael Moore they will accept everything they are told by Coca Cola, except they wont know its them. They will think its a reputable source, like the Beverage Institute for Health and Wellness.
My generation are the pretend hippies. They are fighting the man and buying his products. I think the problem stems from today’s colleges. It’s this pseudo-intellectualism. Where everything you believe must be thrown out and you are taught to “think for yourself (like your professors)”. If I thought for myself I wouldn’t be going to school to be taught how to think. Sorry this is becoming an anti-college rant. I dont even remember why I was posting. I need some water…or I guess coke.

Its been a while, so I’m giving you two. Here you go:

I can’t help but see an uncanny resemblace in the first picture to someone I know with the initials NP. Maybe I can post a picture.
These images are copyright Toni Berry. I will take them down at any time at the request of their creator.
Saw this commercial last night on the mind suck.
A video has been released showing Tom practicing some more of what Lord Xenu has taught him.
This is for my brothers who go to school in Missouri. It’s another great tshirt design from threadless. Click on the image below:
I read a publicity stunt by the Dixie Chicks also known as an interview today. Natalie Maines, the main singer and face for the group is known for talking down Bush at a concert in London. This controversy has conveniently re-emerged aroud the release of their new cd today. Natalie, in a new interview, is quoted as saying, “I don’t feel he is owed any respect whatsoever.” Wow, the “intellectual” nature of that statement. She is so above the politics of Dubyah that she doesn’t even have to show him respect. I’d like to know what she has done besides be a member of a semi-popular country music group, that wether or not she respects someone even matters. This “informed” quote is followed by another one: “I’d rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith,” Maguire said. “We don’t want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do.”
This is a great sampling of the elite entertainment world, that believes they are so powerful, that what they feel about this or that is important. Just as I try not to bring my personal life to work with me, they need to leave theirs at home. Is part of the reason I am taking offense to this because I have some respect for Bush? Possibly. Am I his fanboy? No. But I wouldn’t use my position at work as a podium for my positions either (to be read as eye-ther, to sound more intelligent). Then comes the whole, what type of fans we want comment. Its like they are some out there indie rock band. They sing songs like “Cowboy, Take Me Away”. Can they be about more than that? Sure, but why the need to seperate yourself from the group your in. It’s like the nerd who becomes cool and then makes fun of his old friends, to satiate his new found group.
I don’t feel they are owed any respect whatsoever.
I was browsing a video game site for an upcoming Lord of the Rings video game and came across this post on the forums:
They need to be organised in some way for their raids and wars. In the battle of the five armies, the Orcs were quite organised. Therefore must have some kind of command structure. They also need places where they can sleep, raise their offspring, and forge their weapons and equipment. I guess they live in hidden mountain fortresses or big cave systems, with residential ares, storage rooms, warg pens, forging and mining halls, and prisoner cells. Everything very crude, and not comparable with the subterranian halls of the Elves or Dwarves, but quite practical.
Their society is most likely organised into tribes. Each tribe is a patriachalic society, with some kind of “great Orc” as the chieftain. Below him a severals lesser war chiefs and captains. The leaders are probably choosen by charisma, cunning, and fighting skills, I doubt that the position of chieftain is inherited by the numberous offspring (the chieftain might have some kind of harem).
The women are below the male orcs in the social system, nut still should be an important part of society. They are most likely responsible for collectiong food in the area, raising the younger children (I doubt the Orcs simply let the newborn fend for themselves), and being responsible for the storages. In case of an attack from the outside, I think Orc females would be called to arms as well.
There might also be some class of specialists, miners, metal workers, and such. They have a special position in society, due to their important skills, but are not really as accepted as the warriors are.
Live in an Orc society is hard. While there are probably some basic rules, a wrong step or a loud noise could result in a quick slash with a scimitar. Many Orcs probably die young, due to accidents and Arbitrariness in the Orcish society. A life there is not worth much.*
Now before I give my whitty and near genius commentary, here is some follow up comments:
Its probably a decent guess at orc society. They would be highly militarized and only organized to the extent that one leader could intimidate everyone else enough to act together.
While there is little doubt that female Orcs were around, I doubt their social status was very high. At all.
and another:
And if the female orcs raise the baby orcs they would have to be able to fight. Combat training probably starts with a young orc battling parents.
Now I have to admit that I myself get into fantastical stories. The term used for this would be “letting your imagination run wild”. These guys need to slow it down to swift walk.
*Emphasis added for effect.**
**Effect added to show the most laughable thing I’ve read in quite a while.
Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johanson, Hugh Jackman and David Bowie…not the Batman Begins sequel but a new film about rival london magicians called The Prestige.
Also some Batman Begins rumors.
