Monkeys Eat Poo

First they ride our dogs around the house telling the pig, cats and rabbit what to do,  Next…world domination.

Jenna Elfman is not a hobbitfriend

Its been a while since I attacked Scientology. I probably shouldn’t because if you attack it, your probably a criminal and murderer.

Just in case you don’t want to be called a baby r@#$&#, buy this shirt to fit in.

EDIT: I’ve gotten reports that the site for the t-shirt cannot be visited from certain outlets so I’m posting the a picture below:

Cackalacky Film Festival

I swore off film festivals since not winning an award for a short I did for the Ohlone Film Festival in Fremont, Ca. The first reason I quit is because I cared too much about getting an award instead of enjoying the festival. The second reason is, I didn’t get an award. I was spoiled the year before by winning runner-up for best screenplay for a short I did titled, “Work in Progress.” You can watch that here. I have started thinking about doing festivals again. Not for the competition, but I think it really helps set a deadline for projects and I have a few ideas in the bag, I really wanna make, but don’t have the motivation. Well this morning I started a submission application for the Cackalacky Film Festival (Cackalacky is slang for the carolinas). I was inspired to submit something by their advertising posters shown below.

Brad Pitt Promotes Inter-Species Marriage

Brad Pitt, the prettiest girl at the ball, has decided to use his influence to better society. Forgetting that we could care less, Brad Pitt in an interview with Esquire magazine, unveiled his marriage plans:

“Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.”

Pitt’s statement coincides with the beliefs of thousands of former Jerry Springer show guests who have been fighting endlessly to marry their own siblings.

After reading the interview today, over two-thousand people across the country flocked to their local courthouse only to find out that what Brad Pitt says means nothing…to anyone.

Boss Coffee Japanese Commercial

How do the japanese solve world peace? No…not by a poop and pee with faces. Coffee drinks bring out the cowboy, native american (or pacific islander for that matter), samurai, nun and animal in all of us, together.

P.S. The song is a copy of a classic american ballad, something Frank Sinatra sang, I think, can’t put my finger on it though.

Fall TV Preview

I hate television.  That being said I was previewing this fall’s shows hoping that something creative might just slip through like Arrested Development.  Instead of finding the latest greatest thing you have to watch to be “indie cool”, I found this amazing poster by Chase Black:

Green Tea Panda Bears

Yummy.

Bissingers

Also, it’s official, I hate Starburst and Skittles, if you see me eating them slap my hand so I drop them. And in other candy news, I had the best salt water taffy ever on Balboa Island in Newport Beach. My brother hated them because he didn’t like the taste of peach mixed with butter. They have the most extensive selection of flavors I have ever seen. My favorite..Red Licorice. If you are ever in that area, it’s sold at a candy shop that I don’t know the name of.

Who Called

Cool Site where you check out who is calling you. Users report phone calls and the database is searchable by numbers. It also uses google maps’ api to show locations of users reports.

September 11

I had extreme difficulty making yesterday a somber day. From the moment I woke up the “to-do” got me distracted. “What am I gonna eat for lunch?” and “What funny things can I post today?” flooded my mind. I can’t believe it has been five years. Seeing footage now affects me so much more than it did when I first saw it. It’s more real to me now. This doesn’t come naturally. We have to make it real, we have to quit the business and stop to think about it. We have to meditate on it. Especially if it didn’t affect someone we know.

I watched “The Path to 9/11″ on ABC for the past two evenings. It was very good. I can’t verify all the events, though a quick search for some names of officials, terrorists and the events depicted seems to show that it is mostly based on fact. A lot of it, I’m sure, is a depiction of “what likely happened”. There was a poignant moment for me, when the terrorists were plotting an attack at a night club, smiling, having a good time and my wife turned to me and said, “Are there people who ACTUALLY think this?” and sadly the answer is yes. If only us “peacemakers” were so loyal to our cause, we would be somewhere. Not that I wanna set up “peace” training camps and keep people in the dark ages just to keep them following blindly the cause, but we could learn from their determination and dedication to their beliefs. Their’s is an unarguably evil cause and I’m not justifying it. If you get a chance to rent the special on DVD, I suggest it.

From an entertainment viewpoint, it was made quite well, directed by David Cunningham (To End All Wars, which by the way you should see also). It is also very well acted. There are some political moments as well as some overly dramatic scenes, but I think it made me aware of two things. Terrorists exist and we can’t pretend all is well just because the Trans-America building hasn’t been hit. Secondly, our government is fat and petty. Both sides. The failures shown in the documentary don’t look good for Clinton or W. The amount of ego and personal politics exposed are unbelievable. The only people who come out looking good are our servicemen (CIA and other military) who are ACTUALLY fighting this war only to be sued by the terrorists they are protecting us from.

My heart truly goes out to anyone affected by 9/11 as it does to anyone who is the victim of the results of this sick world.

Ash Wednesday by Elvis Perkins (MP3)

no one will survive ash wednesday alive
no soldier no lover
no father no mother
not a lonely(?) child

Elvis Perkin’s father died on September 12 in 1992 and his mother was on American Airlines Flight 11 that crashed into one of the World Trade Center buildings. He wrote this song about these experiences. Give it a listen.

I’d love to hear how everyone else is feeling about all of this (terrorism, 9/11, war, personal loss, etc.)

UPDATE: You can read the 9/11 report yourself here.
