Schwinn Electric Bike

bike

I love bikes, but I dont have a garage, so at the moment I have my bike in the back of my car.  I would love one of these, good way to get around downtown Bozeman.

Except I dont live there and this thing costs more than the scirroco.

The Soft Drugs

T.W. Walsh’s new band The Soft Drugs (as in caffeine, nicotine, alchohol, gummy bears) are/is(?) offering his newest ep under a creative commons license. TW used to travel and play with Pedro The Lion (rip) and record his own music on the side. He then left Pedro The Lion shortly after starting The Soft Drugs. Dave Bazan’s song Fewer Broken Pieces is partially about this.

I met him (tw) at a concert in LA and he seemed to be a really cool guy. He allowed me to use his song. “Old Fashioned Way of Speaking” in the my short film, Work In Progress, which you can see here.

The Evolution of Beauty

If you have ever felt bad about yourself, in terms of looks. This is why.

There is two reactions that could be had here:

#1: Wow, no one looks perfect. I accept myself for who I am. I have newly found self confidence.

#2: I need to get a full makeup team and be airbrushed everyday. I can’t afford it. I’m ugly.

Podcasting

I launched a new website this past weekend called The DriftZone. The DriftZone is the official podcast of the Formula D drift racing league. It was something I have been working on for quite some time now. I did the layout and build of the site, while the art was done by none other than the amazing Curtis Merlonios, Emperor of The New Republic or known to everyone else as Curt Merlo. The site is going to continually get better as we have only started to really incorporate some of the fine work Curt did for it.

Does anyone out there subscribe to podcasts? Would you subscribe to a podcast that showcased quality, talented lesser-known bands, that included live concert footage of a few songs and an interview/behind-the-scenes footage, once or twice a week?

I’d love to actually get some responses to that one, less I be forced to fake reply to my own blog under titles like: the other one, BigbrotherJon, The Moncrief Brothers, The Junior High Kid I Pay and thousands (or tens) of other of my aliases.

The End of the World

Don’t know how factual this is, but a world without humans is an interesting thought, or even a world where we were a correctly functioning member of the ecological environment.

Red Means Go For Zinedine Zidane

Zidane has been nominated for the FIFA Player of The Year Award. And I believe rightly so. If you spent any time at this blog you know I have defended him before.

His headbutter, Materazzi, also has a book out about the event. The book contains a list of all the things he “might have said” to Zidane. I guess you can just write a book about anything.  I am going to write a book describing what I eat and every bowel movement (size, shape, velocity, color) I have for the next 3 months and sell it for $13.
Check out the Zidane website.

Green Christians Part 2

PBS is showing a Bill Moyers special tonight at 9:00 p.m. (PST) titled “Is God Green?“.* I won’t be watching it because my wife will be trying to answer the question, “Will Jack and Kate get together?“.

From reading the website, it seems that the special will sadly take a political twist, making it about democrats vs. republicans. On the other hand, a lot of religious and environmentalists take it there also.

One group, the Environmental Climate Initiative is calling all christians to be concerned about global warming. I believe global warming is happening. I can’t tell you wether or not the world is gonna melt tomorrow or in 3000 years, but it is probably happening. I feel that it is the environmental flavor of the week, but I am not a scientist. It certainly is a popular talking point for many people.

On further investigation of ECI’s website I found the assurance I was looking for…Caring about global warming won’t turn me into a gay-babykilling-furhater-nudist:

Does addressing climate change mean we’re becoming liberals? No. We believe that creating a better future for our children and grandchildren by fulfilling our biblical call to stewardship and love of neighbor through reducing pollution is simply being a good biblical Christian. Climate change is not a liberal issue. It is a profound problem for people Jesus loves, people Jesus died to save.

Are we working with environmentalists? No. While we are not working with environmentalists, and are critical of some of their views and approaches, we also feel that once we have established our own voice on this issue we should use this as an opportunity to share the gospel with those who care about “environmental” issues. We also appreciate all environmentalists have done to protect God’s creation. Finally, we do not rule out working with environmentalists and anyone else of goodwill in the future.

If anyone get’s a chance to watch it, I would love to hear how it was. Check your local listings.
