Speak Nice…I Want Her To Be My Muddah

Birth of John Baptist from Give Up Yer Aul Sins by Brown Bag Films

The Dark Night?

What Bush and Batman Have in Common

I don’t necessarily agree with the article, but it’s an interesting read.

I didn’t walk away form the movie believing it was a bastion of conservative and moral principles. However, I did find myself thinking about the lack of liberalism expressed in the film.  I guess I’m so used to hearing President Bush quotes and 9/11/War on Terror references in every movie I see now (including this one, unfortunately), that I was slightly taken back that Batman wasn’t this anti-establishment hero that never had to kill* and Joker wasn’t the leader of a religious organization looking to take away your abortion rights.

I think art raises great questions, it’s not always the best place to seek answers.

What do you guys think?

Love At First Sight

There is a road from the eye to heart that does not go through the intellect.
-G. K. Chesterton

Monday night I watched on of the best romantic comedies I’ve seen in years. There was just something different about it, that made it stand out.

It wasn’t based in New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco or Alabama.  The main characters didn’t include a wedding planner, book store owner, ad executive or magazine writer. They weren’t unhappily engaged only to meet fall in love and get married in one week. They didn’t hate each other upon meeting, to later unwillingly and unwittingly fall in love.  There wasn’t a baseball game, wedding ring, crazy in-law, or even a sailboat. In fact, there wasn’t even really any talking.

There were simply two robots.  The least “human” of objects, expressing the most human trait, love. The story is told in tones of “voice” and in their eyes. Their eyes being the only human trait they carry.

The story isn’t a new one; A sweet, but lonely guy meets a beautiful girl.  He wins her over, not with brains or braun, but with charm and determination. While it may take EVE, the object of his admiration, most of the movie to fall for him, it only takes the viewer the first 5 minutes.

The visuals are absolutely beautiful and Pixar’s best yet.  The soundtrack is perfect. The film is the definition of heartwarming.

Wall-E is one of my favorite movies in years and definitely one of Pixar’s best.  If you haven’t seen it, go soon.

Free Money

American Express is running a deal to get 4 free movie tickets for killing yourself eating at del taco 3 times.

If you do it right you can get $40 dollars of tickets for about $3.

Dun, Duh, Duh, Nah

There are some things that are simply universal classics: Coca-Cola, Frank Sinatra, and Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones has all the snarky cheesiness of Star Wars without the polarizing sci-fi setting. So it’s with a mixture of pleasure and apprehension that I present to you the trailer of the newest installment in the series, Indiana Jones and The Crystal Skull.

It seems to me like Harrison has still got it, but can they craft a enjoyable film around him?
First Impressions?

Son of Rambow Trailer

This movie has been around for a while but will get a US release this May. Directed by Garth Jennings of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fame.

Peter Jackson Will Executive Produce “The Hobbit”

The article also talks about a sequel.  Not sure what that will be.  I am kinda glad Peter isn’t directing to be honest.  He has good grasp on middle-earth and it worked for Lord of the Rings but The Hobbit isn’t a different book all together. What do you guys think? Excited? Don’t Care?

All That Is Gold Does Not Glitter

It is a rare circumstance in which I am wrong. It is even rarer when I care to admit it. Rarer still, are hobbits. Though they did exist (didn’t think I’d pull that one out, didjah?)

Recently, I stated that it is not cool to joke about Lord of The Rings yet. In a strange turn of events, the same comedic actors/musicians that I used as proof for my hypothesis, have turned against me and have sought to destroy all reason, by creating a video on the afformentioned subject (that of hobbits and elves…wait….oh man…I am a hippocrite). Unfortunately, it is very funny.

And someone in their infinite youtube wisdom, remixed the song with Lord of the Rings footage…

Beach Screenings

This is why I am way cooler than you…

Chronicles of Narnier

Andrew Adamson does the first video for the Chronicles of Narnia production blog.

I thought the first one was okay. I don’t know if I’m that psyched about the next ones. I don’t know. Some things are just more fun to imagine. As much as people want to see their imaginations come to life, I think they are always dissapointed. Because you always imagine it exactly how you want it to be.

That’s why I just keep digital friends now and only chat online. I also removed all the mirrors and glass in my house. This way I’m never dissapointed in anyone. Me and all my friends are good looking sucessful people.
