The Kooks Cover “Kids” by MGMT

Music To Grow A Beard To

I was checking out Metacritic’s best albums of 2008 this morning and found something exciting.

4th Place - Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

5th Place - Fleet Foxes - Self-Titled

If you guys read my blog more than once a month by accidentally clicking the bookmark you made 2 years ago, you would know I’ve been hyping both these albums.  They both contain beautiful american folk music, although both are quite different. Fleet Foxes are a Brian Wilson influenced band that trade songs about California Girls for hymns about woodland creatures, while Justin Vernon’s Bon Iver was devised, written and recorded in a cabin over a Wisconsin Winter after a band breakup.

Bon Iver - Flume and Skinny Love

Fleet Foxes - Tiger Mountain Peasant Song and White Winter Hymnal

What do I have for you today? Some snarky celebrity commentary? A deep religious-themed introspective? Nope. Just some music videos.
